Stitching up some mittens for a good cause!
[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2345″ img_size=”600×600″ alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]You are invited to participate in Mittens for Detroit’s (MFD) Charity MittenMakers Stitch-A-Thon, in celebration of the start of our 10th Collection Season. All you have to do is gather up some support to sponsor you while you KNIT, CROCHET, OR SEW new, warm mittens!
Our goal is for each MittenMaker to stitch up a minimum of 3 pairs of mittens and to raise a minimum of $50. The funds raised will help purchase new, warm mittens and gloves from our wholesale partner, Broner Hat & Gloves. The $50, for instance, could fund 7 pairs that would retail at $20 each. Participants will knit, crochet or sew new mittens and raise funds to support their goal of at least 3 pairs of stitched mittens and donations of a minimum of $50.
WHEN: The Charity MittenMakers Stitch-A-Thon launches officially October 1 and runs through November 4, 2019. Participants can start stitching and recruiting supporters as soon as they have the official pledge form. Please email Wendy@MittensForDetroit.org to let her know that you are participating.
WHO: STITCHERS EVERYWHERE! MFD receives about 1,000 handmade pairs of mittens every year, from all over the country – that’s about 9,000 pairs in the past 9 years! The Stitch- A-Thon participants can be anywhere, as individuals or groups – the more, the merrier!
RULES: All pairs submitted MUST be made by hand, not store-bought. Fabric/yarn should be easy-care. Any size from preschooler to adult. Please consider making the cuffs a little longer on teen and adult pairs than you might otherwise. Please use yarn to attach the pairs, not safety pins.
WHY: Because making mittens for charity is fun, because this is an easy way for all of MFD’s creative MittenMakers to work together to warm more hands, and because we love handmade pairs!
